The Section 8 Voucher Program increases affordable housing choices for very low-income households by allowing families to choose privately owned rental units. HAPB issues a voucher to an income-qualified household, and then they locate a unit of their choice within Broward County.
The following documents are required from each Landlord:
- Request for Tenancy Approval (HUD 52517 form provided by HAPB)
- Proof of Ownership (A copy of a recorded Grant Deed)
- Copy of Owners Drivers License or State issued ID
- Completed IRS W-9(form provided by HAPB)
- Copy of Social Security or Employer Identification Number
- Copy of an executed Lease with Tenant(leave dates blank)and a blank lease
- Condominium Association approval(if applicable)
- Management Company Agreement(if applicable)
- Section 8 Landlord Brief(form provided by HAPB)
- Section 8 Certification(form provided by HAPB)
- Completed Check Payment form(form provided by HAPB)
- Completed Direct Deposit form along with voided Check(form provided by HAPB)
Housing Quality Standards Inspection
Upon verifying the Landlord’s property documents an initial HQS inspection
will be scheduled within five (5) business days. It is required for
HAPB to inspect all units on an annual basis. A small percentage of
units are randomly selected for Quality Control and Special Inspections
are conducted upon request.
Payment Standards
The amount paid to the Landlord will be equal to the difference between
30 percent of the Tenant's adjusted income and the determined Payment
Standard for the area which is determined by 80 to 100 percent of the
